WPP’s Mirum officially launches in Australia and merges with Webling
WPP’s global digital agency Mirum has launched in Australia and merged with another digital agency in the WPP group, Webling.
Mirum, which forms part of the J. Walter Thompson Group of companies, will be made up of Webling employees and led by Mirum Australia’s managing director Claire van Heyningen.
Van Heyningen was previously the general manager of Webling.
John Gutteridge, APAC CEO of J Walter Thompson, said in a statement: “Combining the global strength of a digital brand such as Mirum with the local knowledge and expertise of a strong local digital agency represents an amazing opportunity to further solidify Mirum’s digital leadership in this region.”
Since becoming Mirum Australia, the business has added Exchange for Change, Bravecto and digital bank 86 400 to its client roster.
“I was impressed by the breadth of work and the sheer depth of strategic and technical thinking of the local team, and I was confident by joining the Mirum network it would allow us to supercharge our offering while retaining our focus on serving the local market with best-in-class and effective ‘deep digital’ work,” Van Heyningen added.
Dan Khabie, global CEO of Mirum, said: “I am very excited to expand into this market and work alongside Claire and her innovative team. Mirum is about making what’s next and Australia gives us a unique opportunity to work with a new set of diverse clients in a region that is seeing huge growth around digital technology.”
Mirum Australia is part of the J. Walter Thompson network which is part of WPP AUNZ.
Congrats Claire! Good luck.

According to the release at the time of acquisition in 2015, Webling had 30+ people. So either the team has shrunk considerably or there was a big offsite the day this photo was taken.

They didn’t merge at all, that is a picture of the Webling team. There wasn’t a Mirum Aus to begin with. They’ve just rebranded the Webling team and promoted the GM to MD.

So is Webling, now Mirum, killing it as this article suggests or has it tanked since JWT’s acquisition?
