Writing’s on the wall for Taxi
Dr Mumbo likes the creative approach taken by production house Taxi Film Productions after its offices were tagged by a rubbish graffiti artist – challenging somebody to do better.
As the Brisbane and Sydney company puts it: ”
“The first thing we thought was “F#@% you!”. At least they could have done something good.
“Here at Taxi we’re all for creative expression. So, we’ve thrown down the challenge for a graffiti artist, collective, visual artist or just a generally creative to turn this blank canvas into a work of art.
“Contact Taxi and we’ll make it happen. shoot@taxifilm.tv (07) 3334 4200”
Dr Mumbo looks forward to seeing the results.
They should go for the one of brisbanes best:

I hope they plan to pay the artist they choose, or is this just another way of exploiting artists in the name of a competition. “Good” street artists are seriously talented people but the call for artists to “do better” for zero return is just another rip off of street culture by the media in a cheap attempt for PR. Oh I am sure they will tell them what a great promotion it will be for them to decorate a companies office and save them a clean up bill bla bla bla, oh maybe they will even offer to pay for the paint…

@meh thank you for your assumptions. You can read into this however you want.
This is not a competition. This isn’t exploitation. Taxi has a big blank canvas for an artist working in any medium, not just street artists, and we’re just looking to work with someone to create a piece of art.
We are just creative people who want to work with other creative people. Oh, and we think tagging buildings crap.

So Ant, I take it aren’t planning to pay someone to decorate your commercial premesis then? No I guess it isn’t a competition in that case, as that would offer a prize.

I’ll pay street artists when they remove their ‘work’ when it is unwanted. Deal?
