WWF launch short film competition

The World Wildlife Fund has launched an international short film competition to help celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Filmmakers, both emerging and established are invited to produce a short film under two minutes long of any genre, documentary, animation, fiction for the competition, Life. Nature. You Make the Connection.

The film should ‘should inspire people to love, value and protect the natural world – and to reconnect with nature.’ said a statement.

In the statement, Martin Atkin, WWF International’s Media Director said, “Film and video are increasingly important to reach mass audiences and inspire people to love nature. We want the cream of the filmmaking world to help us celebrate 50 years of conservation by producing engaging, innovative and creative short films which make the connection between people and the natural world.”

Two winners will be selected, one by WWF and the other by the audience. Both will be commissioned by WWF to make a short film for $US10,000. The winners will also be invited to the CMS Vatavaran Environment Film Festival in New Delhi to present their films and receive their awards. Other short-listed films will be shown at the festival.

Life. Nature. You. Make the Connection is being hosted on Vimeo and is run in association with CMS Vatavaran. For more details on how to enter see panda.org/videocomp.

Deadline for the competition is 9 October, 2011.
