YouTube Kids beats all platforms, leaves TikTok far behind on visit duration

YouTube Kids is proving to be the world’s best babysitter, with new data showing dwell time on the platform is longer than any other social media or entertainment platform on the net.

According to Similarweb data, crunched by DesignRush, YouTube Kids has the highest visit duration of any platform, with the average time per visit clocking in at 20 minutes 40 seconds. This is slightly longer than regular YouTube visits, which have an average duration of 20 minutes 23 seconds.

From there, it drops off dramatically. An average visit to Facebook lasts 10 minutes 34 seconds; Twitter/X visits last 10 minutes 43 minutes; while an average Instagram visit lasts 8 minutes 14 minutes. Reddit visitors browse for 8 minutes 39 per visit, while Twitch users stay for 9 minutes 19 seconds.

Pinterest users stay for an average of 6 minutes and 4 seconds each time.

An average TikTok scroll lasts just 3 minutes 48 seconds.

“Figures suggest that children who visit daily and spend the average time on site will have spent over five days per year on the platform,” the study notes.

“If the time on site rises to one hour per day, the maximum experts recommend for ages 2-5, that rises to over 15 days spent per year.”
