Y&R’s comms director Lynda Gray departs after 10 years
Y&R Australia’s communications director Lynda Gray is leaving the agency after a decade in the role.
Gray handled communications and PR for Y&R agencies including GPY&R, IdeaWorks, The Campaign Palace and newly launched digital agency VML.
In an email, Gray said:
After more than 10 fabulous, fraught, funny and frustrating years with the Y&R family I’m taking time out to make a start on the bucket list.
To all of you – and trust me there are so many – thank you for the wonderful, often hilarious times, and the many great stories.
Advertising is a fascinating and challenging business and I have been fortunate to observe it at close quarters as both a journalist and a PR for more years than I care to admit.
A replacement has yet to be found for Gray.
Y&R Australia boss Russell Howcroft had not returned Mumbrella’s calls at the time of going to press.
Gray’s career includes spells at Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney, DDB and TBWA. She started her career as a marketing and business journalists working on titles including The Australian and Sun Herald.
End of an era.
Have a ball ticking off the bucket list, Lynda.
Saved my arse on more than one occasion.
Hey Linda! You should write your memoirs! You would make a fortune….probably from all the people who would pay you NOT to write it….
You are the ultimate pro at what you do – and more than one person owes you their arse!
Lynda is amazing – she was such a brilliant help to me back in the trade journo days – taught me a thing or two about great PR now that I’m in her biz.
Good luck with everything in the future!
Wonderful woman that Lynda.
One of the greats is leaving the building. Don’t worry about findinng a repalcement, there isn’t one. They don’t grow them like Linda, anymore.
Lynda is a nice person and also amazingly good at what she does.
I was at Y&R before it became GPYR and it was amazing all the great publicity she got and the new business as a result.
Good on you, Lynda
Congrats Lynda! Good luck with the bucket list.
A smart operator and a very funny woman.
Good luck LG!
All the best Lynda. Love your work.
Truly a legend. Worked with her on a number of occasions. I’ll await with eagerness who snaps Linda up. Brilliant at her game.
All the best!
Linda all the best, it was great working with you, you were an important part of the fabric. Taught me lots and you have forgotten more secrets than most people ever had.
All the best.
