Zoos Victoria and Eardrum create new radio campaign

Zoos Victoria has partnered with Eardrum to launch two radio ads highlighting “the emotional benefits of visiting the zoo”.

The announcement:

Audio specialist agency Eardrum has created a warmly offbeat holiday campaign for Zoos Victoria.

The two ads present a light-hearted turn around for a parent worrying about too much screen time, and a child dealing with the social pressures of school. The simple act of staring at a zoo animal can be a much-needed circuit breaker to the concerns of daily life.

Performed by actor Kate Box (Deadloch, Wentworth) the concept is executed with wit and warmth.

Brendan Dodd, Zoos Victoria general manager, marketing said “Eardrum challenged us to be less literal and focus on the emotional benefits of visiting the zoo. The result is a charming, relatable campaign that’s bound to stand out on air.”

“We all know what we’ll see at the zoo, but we take for granted how it makes us feel.” said Ralph van Dijk, founding creative director of Eardrum. “It’s such a unique way to reconnect with nature and tune out the human world for a blissful moment.”

The campaign will be heard on Victorian radio stations throughout the summer holidays.
