Australian film Absolution accepted into international film festivals

SSS Production has announced that Absolution has been accepted into three international film festivals over the past few months.

The announcement:

SSS Production is proud to announce that ABSOLUTION has been accepted into three International Film Festivals over the past few months:

  1. Moscow International Film Festival
  2. Montreal World Film Festival
  3. Cannes Short Film Corner

ABSOLUTION has also been entered into the annual AACTA Awards 2015.

The film was received with open arms and with an overwhelming amount of positive feedback at the international festivals. Another pleasant surprise was that after the Q&A Absolution, it was evident that the audience was deeply drawn into the film and that they stayed in the moment for some time after watching.

We feel blessed to have had such positive feedback and it is such an honour to have been accepted into festivals of this prestige. It has really given us more motivation to turn this short film into a feature film as planned, says director Jad Haber.

The film has also been entered into a number of other larger festivals and the creators are confident that it will be accepted with equal enthusiasm.

There is always a sigh of relief when a project goes well, says producer Yolandi Franken. Even though there is always a level of confidence and hope in everything we do, the fact that other might not like it as much as what we do, is always a real possibility and something to be weary of. We are just thankful and blessed that we had nothing but success so far.

We had an amazing team of cast and crew with support from many in the industry, and that is the first step in the right direction.

Absolution is a short film about a priest who finds his faith tested when he is asked to give the last rites to the man he has injured in a car accident, who happens to be a murderer.

Staring Goran D. Kleut (Star Wars, I,Frankenstein, The Great Gatsby, Gabriel, Sea Patrol, Underbelly) and Daniel Cordeaux (Thank god you’re here), the film is filled with emotion, tension and really makes us think about our own believes and challenges in life. It is a story that draws you in and leaves you feeling removed from this world, at least for a while.

ABSOLUTION was directed by Jad Haber and produced by Jad Haber and Yolandi Franken

DOP: Dan Freene

Writer : Greg Woodland and Jad Haber
