Fitzy & Wippa to Nova Sydney breakfast; Meshel, Tim & Marty to national drivetime

fitzy_wippaDMG’s Nova Radio has confirmed that its new Sydney breakfast lineup will be the current drivetime team of Fitzy & Wippa – Ryan Fitzgerald and Michael Wipfli.

The duo only took on the drivetime slot in January following Ryan Shelton’s departure to work with Hamish Blake and Andy Lee on TV projects, and Katie “Monty” Dimond’s move to join the Merrick Watts and Scott Dooley Sydney breakfast show.

Monty later left after becoming pregnant. Earlier this week, Nova announced that the Merrick & Dools breakfast show would be coming to an end in a fortnight’s time.

An hour of the Fitzy & Wippa Sydney breakfast show will now be networked nationally from 6-7pm.

The last time Sheargold was heard in the Sydney market was the short lived morning version of The Shebang with Fifi Box on Triple M, which had previously been a successful national drivetime show.

Nova’s group programming director Paul Jackson  said: “Fitzy & Wippa are a class act. Their talent, chemistry and sense of humor are second to none. They’ll inject some fun and down to earth personality into Sydney breakfast radio like they did in Drive.”

Jackson added: “Meshel, Tim & Marty are strong broadcasters in their own right and a formidable on air team. We’re really excited that Australia now has the opportunity to hear them nationally on the Nova Network.”

The new Brisbane breakfast lineup will be revealed on Monday.
