Meet Betty – Chicken Treat’s tweeting chicken
West Australian chicken restaurant Chicken Treat is attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the first chicken to ever send a five letter word as a tweet, in a bid to drive its social media engagement.
The campaign, created by Perth agency Marketforce, sees Betty the chicken given a keyboard and computer in her coup in the hope she tweets a “proper five letter word in English” by October 30.
Group account director Nicole Lennox Gray told Mumbrella while they did not know whether Betty would manage the task, she nearly completed the challenge in the first six seconds by nearly spelling the word ‘kitty’.
However Betty’s subsequent efforts have not been quite so close to the mark:
The brand has also registered with Guinness to have Betty entered as an official World Record should she successfully tweet a five letter word.

Marketforce’s Gray said the low-cost activation was a bid to kick start the brand, which is owned by QSRH which also owns Red Rooster and Oporto, on social media. It currently has less than 700 followers on Twitter.

Customers can follow Betty’s progress using the hashtag #chickentweet.
No Chicken Treat stores outside of WA and Qld, and a tweet timeline full of gibberish. The campaign needs a rethink.

To whom it may concern,
I am writing about Betty, the tweeting chicken, for the NY Daily News and would love to talk to someone for some insight on how this goal to make it to the Guinness Book of World Records got started.
My deadline is 4 p.m. today.
Thanks!
