Spotify hires Kate Vale to run sales ahead of ANZ launch

Spotify, a popular music-streaming service that is about to launch in Australia and New Zealand, has appointed former Google executive Kate Vale as head of sales.

According to her Linkedin profile, Vale is already in place as sales director for Australia and New Zealand and is looking to recruit more sales staff.

Vale was previously head of YouTube, Australia and New Zealand and head of sales and operations at Google Australia and New Zealand. She is also listed on Linkedin as a director at Loopster Media, a company that helps brands managed their Facebook profiles.

Spotify, which was founded in Sweden but is headquartered in the UK, charges a low monthly fee for unlimited access to a catalogue of 15m songs.

The company has been negotiating deals with carriers and ISPs this month, but has yet to announce a launch date for the Australian operation.

Vale was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
