Ten’s Gogglebox dips again but performs well across the demos as Seven wins the night
Ten’s Gogglebox has seen its audience continue to slide, posting a metro audience of 534,000 last night, down from last week’s audience of 590,000 and the previous week’s audience of 629,000.
However the show, which aired from 8.45pm, did perform well in the key advertising demographics. It was the second most-watched program amongst 16-39 year olds and 18-49 year olds and the fourth most-watched show amongst 25-54 year old viewers.
It also out-rated Nine’s The Footy Show, airing from 8.30pm, which was watched by 385,000 viewers across Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and Seven’s movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier, airing from 9pm, which had a metro audience of 348,000.
Earlier in the evening, Seven’s My Kitchen Rules grabbed 1.360m at 7.30pm to be the most-watched program of the night.
It easily beat Nine’s RBT which pulled in 605,000 metro viewers and Ten’s Modern Family which was watched by 393,000.
Seven won the night with an audience share of 24.6%, ahead of Nine’s share of 18%. Ten claimed third place with a share of 13.2% as the ABC managed a share of 12.4%.
In the news battleground, Seven News at 6pm was watched by 1.026m, sliding to 945,000 from 6.30pm. Nine News at 6pm had an audience of 996,000, dipping to 916,000.
On the ABC, 7.30 was watched b y 642,000, The Checkout (8pm) pulled in 679,000 and Janet King (8.30pm) had an audience of 595,000.
The households that have been on Googlebox for a few seasons are now playing up to the camera and it takes away any spontaneity the show once had.
They need to replace the “stars” each year if they want it to remain watchable and fun.

#2. It could be a traffic factor. Who do you know in Sydney who can get home from work before 6pm to watch the news?
