$41 million TPG media account goes to Starcom

Publicis Groupe’s Starcom has been appointed to the $41 million TPG media account, taking over from GroupM’s Wavemaker.

Mumbrella revealed in April that the consolidated account for TPG, Vodafone, iiNet was going to pitch.

The pitch did not include Felix Mobile, which was launched at the end of 2020 and is handled by This Is Flow.

Andrew Bagot, head of media at TPG, said: “We have had a very positive relationship with Wavemaker over the last seven years and thank them for their excellent service and support for our business.

“We would also like to thank all agencies that participated in our RFP process, for their input and excellent responses.”

Dentsu’s Carat won Vodafone’s global media account in 2019, but the arrangement did not impact the local contract where WPP’s bespoke agency for Vodafone, Team Red, continued to service the account.

Vodafone and TPG merged in 2020 to become TPG Telecom. In the same year, Team Red was disbanded but Wavemaker stayed on the media account.

The news comes after Starcom appointed a new chief operating officer internally, Louise Romeo, who was charged with developing and establishing nationally standardised policies and procedures across the agency’s workflow.
