Can CBA snatch defeat from its Twitter victory?
Remember the punter who Tweeted that CBA was messing up her mortgage only to have Twitter come riding to the rescue like a digital knight on an online white horse?
The customer in question was Alison Godfrey, a news.com.au journo. It looks like there could yet be another chapter. She’s just tweeted: “There might be another stuff up on my mortgage two days from settlement”
Followed by: “”Ugh think everyone involved in my mortgage application needs a kick up the bum”
Dr Mumbo suspects that the superhuman combination of Twitter and a CBA fear of bad PR may resolve the situation momentarily.
Update: Indeed it has. She’s now posted: “excellent. Mortgage sorted. Thanks 2 cba” And thanks also to big brands’ fear of bad PR too, no doubt.
The first home buyers’ grant is running very slow at the moment – it’s apparently taking about 8-10 days instead of the usual 2. The banks haven’t adjusted. It’s not the first case of this I’ve heard of…

Good on CBA for acting quickly. . . . regardless of the motivation. It’s too easy to beat up on the banks, and we shouldn’t look for the black lining in every silver cloud!
