9Network announced as official Australian broadcaster for the Invictus Games

The Invictus Games Foundation has named the 9Network as the official Australian broadcaster of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.

As part of the agreement, the 9Network’s broadcasting of the sporting event will consist of the Games’ Closing and Opening ceremonies (to be available on 9Gem); extra sports streams on 9Now; and “international daily highlight packages”.

Meanwhile, telecommunications giant, Optus, will extend the coverage to Australian Defence Force (ADF) TV channels located within Australian military bases.

“The Invictus Games are a beacon of hope, resilience, and determination, and we are honoured to broadcast this event to Australian audiences,” said Nine Wide World of Sports’ head of partnerships and strategy, Simon Fordham.

“Partnering with the Invictus Games Foundation allows us to showcase the remarkable achievements of these competitors and celebrate their unwavering spirit.

“We look forward to bringing their stories to life and highlighting the incredible efforts of Team Australia.”

For Sam Newell, the Invictus Games Foundation’s director of communications, the partnership is an avenue that will allow the Games’ ‘spirit’ to reach Australian homes and inspire the masses.

“We are thrilled to have Channel 9 on board as the official Australian broadcaster for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, and that service members located on base will be able to watch over ADF TV thanks to Optus,” enthused Newell.

“Such committed partners will help us amplify the voices of competitors and shine a light on the incredible journeys they’ve undertaken. This partnership will ensure that the Invictus Spirit reaches homes across Australia, inspiring countless others, changing lives and saving lives.”

Presented by Boeing and ATCO, this year’s Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler are set to span February 8 to 16 in Canada. 2025’s iteration of the Games will incorporate adaptive winter sports, such as snowboarding and skiing, into its makeup for the first time.

“I’m really looking forward to heading to Canada for Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025,” added Dr Kaz Gladysz, co-captain of Team Australia.

“We have a fantastic team of 33 current and former serving military personnel who will be doing their best to bring pride to Australia.

“It will be great to have family, friends and supporters cheering us on from back home thanks to this partnership with the 9Network!”
