A young girl rights her wrongs to earn a family trip to McDonald’s in latest ad

A mischievous little girl named Lucy busies herself putting all of her wrongdoings right in order to earn a meal at McDonald’s, in the fast-food chain’s latest ad from DDB Sydney.

The wider campaign, which began with the TVCs ‘Landmark’ and ‘Almost Home’ last year, is exploring the different roles that McDonald’s plays in the lives of Australians.

The ad, set to Nancy Sinatra’s ‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’, shows Lucy repairing her brother’s toy, scooping car keys out of a fish tank, scraping stickers off the dining table, painting over ‘Brothers are…” graffiti on the cubby house and washing the pink dye out of the dog’s fur.

The campaign is titled ‘Denise’, a play on Dennis the Menace comic strips. McDonald’s Australia marketing director, Jo Feeney, said the ad was tapping into the joy that a trip to McDonald’s brings Australian families.

“In this new spot, we’re shining a light on the love that Aussie families have for a trip to Macca’s. The appeal of a trip to Macca’s with the family is brought to life through the actions of one cheeky girl and familiar scenes of life at home,” Feeney said.

“Denise is the latest TVC in our year-long brand campaign and continues the narrative that no matter who you are, where you are or what you do, Macca’s will be there for you and your family.”

DDB Sydney creative partner, David Joubert, added: “I speak from experience when I say that anyone who has kids will relate with fondness and familiarity to this story.

“Especially the lengths that our young girl goes to to undo her mischevious acts. It’s an amusing new addition to our ongoing campaign, celebrating everyday Aussie life and the
role we play in it.”

The ad will appear nationally on television and online.
