AAMI rescues family from ‘Up Ship Creek’ in new ad
Insurance company AAMI pokes fun at Australian destination names in its latest ad for its ongoing ‘Not very insurancey’ campaign to promote its roadside assistance offering.
Created by Ogilvy Melbourne, the tongue-in-cheek spot sees a young family stranded in the Australian town of Woop Woop attempting to get roadside assistance for their van named ‘Going nowhere and loving it’.
When the phone operator asks where they are, he says ‘Woop Woop’ before he realises they are also stopped two kilometres ‘up Ship Creek’.
Alongside the traditional, ‘Lucky you’re with AAMI’, the new ad ends with the new tagline: ‘That’s not very insurancey.’
The ‘not very insurancey’ campaign has run since December 2015.
AAMI should get hold of an app I developed called Roadside Assist Locator. http://www.roadsideassistlocator.com/

Good idea, and brilliantly funny and catchy. But you can not use it.
Unfortunately it is disgusting with children not only in the advert saying the words but my kids are so confused how and why this happens. Keeping adverts clean is not difficult, you are just getting lazy and Australian standards are going into the gutter.

I loved your up ship creek in whoop whoop add but now it’s been cut short, the kids don’t get to say their parts. It was better before when they did. I’m disappointed with it now. Put it back like it was……….

Yet another stupid, irritating advert.20s/30s somethings in marketing, backslapping themselves in Melbourne again to a frenzy.Customers are more interested in savings compared to other (more sensible) companies.I will not insure with these clowns!

Anyone who thinks this ad is offensive has no sense of humour. In my humble opinion, it is one of the best ads produced.

Because of this stupid ad and the idiot AAMI people who agreed to this rubbish, my policy is cancelled.
