ABC beats Ten in weekly ratings share despite finale of The Bachelorette

ABC has beaten Ten in the weekly ratings battle yet again despite Ten airing its finale of The Bachelorette.

The final moments of Ali Oetjen’s season of The Bachelorette had 926,000 metro viewers, while the rest of the episode managed 766,000 metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s preliminary overnight metro ratings.

Although Oetjen’s final decision – which saw her choose Taite Radley over Todd King – was 44% down from the same moment last year when 1.640m tuned into see Sophie Monk’s conclusion, it was the most watched program of the week.

Winning the weekly ratings battle again was Seven with an overall audience share of 19.4%, while Nine came in second with a 17.4% weekly channel share.

ABC finished with a weekly audience share of 12.9%, topping Ten’s 11.6% share and SBS’ 4.9%.

Seven won the weekly ratings battle with the help of Seven News. Seven News at 6pm and Seven News/ Today Tonight managed to take up four of the top 10 most watched programs of the week.

Meanwhile, Nine News at 6pm and Nine News at 6.30pm took up three places in the top 10.

Second to The Bachelorette finale, Have You Been Paying Attention was Ten’s most watched show with 724,000 metro viewers.

No program managed to crack more than one million metro viewers last week.

In network share, Seven saw a 30.3% audience share ahead of Nine’s 26.6%, ABC’s 18.3%, Ten’s 17.2% and SBS’ 7.6% share.
