ABC boss Mark Scott ‘contender for top job at BBC’
ABC boss Mark Scott has been named as among the front runners to lead the BBC.
According to Media Guardian, Scott is one of three obvious outside choices when the BBC’s current director general Mark Thompson steps down in the next few months.
The ABC declined to comment on the story.
Mark Scott talks to Mumbrella editor TYim Burrowes in 2010:
He’d be brilliant! And, of course, the ABC is already 90% BBC, so he would be right at home. Perhaps he can get the Graham Norton show taken off Ten and put back on the ABC, so we can watch it without all those annoying Ten promos?

He’s done a great job and deserves the recognition. Would be our loss

Well it would seriously piss off the Poms, who are already cheesed off at the number of folk from the Queen’s southern possessions that have taken big prizes in UK arts and culture gigs. Sadly, though, it appears that this is just a little promo ahead of the change of govt to protect his job.

Seems unlikely, especially as he’s contracted to the ABC until 2016.

Let’s hope he doesn’t do to Radio 4 what his just allowed to happen at Radio National ie: dumb it down….

Would the manager of an A-League football team get a Premier League management position? No.
Mark is brilliant but this is never going to happen.

The commentary below the line at the Media Guardian link was considerably more interesting and diverse than anything being broadcast for the first or umpteenth time on BBC channels. Someone suggested Lord Mandelson may be up the job, which certainly set my teeth on edge. By the cringe!
