ABC Factual EP made commissioning editor
ABC TV’s EP of development at ABC Factual, Edwina Waddy, has been made commissioning editor in the same department.
The announcement:
Edwina Waddy, Executive Producer, Development, at ABC Factual, has been appointed a Commissioning Editor in the same department.
Edwina has worked at the ABC for seven and a half years running factual and documentary development across a number of genres including History, Natural History, Science, Religion & Ethics, Factual Entertainment and Contemporary documentary. Her development work with dozens of Australia’s leading producers during this time means that she brings a deep knowledge of the industry to her new job.
Most recently Edwina executive produced the second season of OPENING SHOT, a young filmmaker’s initiative for ABC2 that began broadcast with GROWING UP GAYBY on Wednesday 20th November. She has also worked as a producer/ co-writer of introductions to ABC2’s feature documentary strand SUNDAY BEST.
ABC Head of Factual Phil Craig said; “It’s a real pleasure to welcome Edwina into her new role. The current series of OPENING SHOT provides ample evidence that she’s capable of providing real leadership to Australian film-makers and is an eloquent testimony to her flair and good judgment.’
Prior to the ABC, Edwina was an Assistant Editor in the Specialist Factual Department at Channel 4, UK working across history and arts programming. She began her career working for a number of literary and theatrical agencies including The William Morris Agency UK, Curtis Brown UK and HLA Management, Sydney.
