ABC scores 112,000 video streams for Doctor Who premiere
The ABC’s experiment with making the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who available on iView almost 48 hours before it aired on ABC1 saw more than 100,000 viewers stream the show, the broadcaster revealed today.
The episode, which saw Matt Smith introduced as the new Doctor, was available from midnight on Friday and delivered more than 112,000 views over the weekend.
Last week was also the biggest in the history of the ABC’s catch-up viewing service with 224,000 visitors, 540,000 visits and 2.8 million page views.
And imagine how many more people would have watched it if the ABC hadn’t waited 2 weeks to show it.
