ABC to launch new comedy show Tomorrow Tonight with Annabel Crabb and Charlie Pickering

ABC will launch a new weekly panel show, Tomorrow Tonight, later this year.

The new show will be hosted by ABC’s Charlie Pickering and Annabel Crabb, and produced by Thinkative Television and ABC TV.

Tomorrow Tonight will air on the ABC later this year

Tomorrow Tonight will see Pickering describe a hypothetical event that hasn’t yet occurred to Crabb, a panel of experts and comedians. It will seek to bring viewers ‘tomorrow’s news today’.

ABC’s announcement follows the axing of comedy show Tonightly, which concluded last week. ABC’s executive producer, Nick Hayden, who worked on Tonightly, has been appointed ABC EP for the show. He will be joined by executive producers Chris Walker and Kevin Whyte.

“I’m excited to take a break from making fun of the news to have a go at making up some news of our own, which could all turn out to be true any day now,” Pickering said.

Crabb added: “The escalating lunacy of domestic and global events in recent years is a sombre reminder to us all that we should be prepared for things to get even weirder. Tomorrow Tonight is – under these circumstances – a cornerstone obligation of the ABC Charter. Jokes included at no additional public expense.”

Josie Mason-Campbell, ABC’s head of factual and entertainment, said the show will inform and entertain viewers about the world around them.

“We are thrilled to work with Charlie Pickering and Annabel Crabb and the team at Thinkative Television on this original production. Tomorrow Tonight will unpack some of the most burning issues of our time and ask: ‘What if?’” Mason-Campbell said.
