ABC’s Ben McLean joins Insurance Council of Australia’s communications team
ABC NewsRadio senior producer Ben McLean has joined the Insurance Council of Australia as senior communications advisor replacing Cherrie Dinh who has left the organisation after nearly two years to take up a role at the University of Sydney.
Campbell Fuller, ICA general manager of communications and media relations told Mumbrella: ““Ben will play a key role in the coordination and management of the hundreds of media inquiries that the Insurance Council of Australia handles each year. His extensive experience in fast-paced high-pressure broadcast media will be put to great use.
“He’ll work closely with me and the ICA’s policy directorates to help ensure the industry’s perspectives on policy issues are heard.”
McLean joins the ICA after eight years with the ABC.
Fuller said McLean’s appointment is “timely given the recent changes to Cabinet and the number of issues the general insurance industry is working on at the moment, including tax reform, the government’s response to the Financial System Inquiry and insurance affordability in North Queensland.
“He strengthens the ICA’s media team as Australia enters the disaster season and insurers’ responses to natural disasters are placed under the spotlight,” Fuller added.
