Acast adds six new hires to local team following end of Nova partnership

Just days after its partnership with Nova ended so both companies could grow their podcast offerings independently, Acast has announced six new hires, including a creative strategy lead in Tom Roach.

Roach was previously strategy and insights manager at Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), and joins Acast with new sales team members Isabella Gibson-Giorgio, Katalina Haddad, Michelle Smith, Diana Lee, and Teresa Ly.

Added to the appointments of Adam King and Liam Daily as group sales leads in April, Acast said it now has the best podcast-specific sales team in the country.

“We’re in a privileged position to be hiring and expanding – it’s a testament to both the strength of the Australian podcast industry and Acast’s leadership position within it,” said Henrik Isaksson, Acast’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

“The team now offers Australia’s most comprehensive insights, strategy and sales unit that’s solely dedicated to podcasting. They represent the next stage of growth for Acast locally and present a huge opportunity for any brand looking to maximise the potential of their investment and sales objectives with podcasting. The decision to build our local sales team is something our publishers, podcasters and clients have been asking for.”

Acast, which is the biggest podcast player in Australia with a portfolio of 10,000 titles worldwide, added that the newly-strengthened team is an attractive proposition for agencies and brands. Earlier in the year, the business launched Acast Marketplace, which facilitates podcast buying both locally and internationally.

“I’m delighted to be joining the team at an exciting time for Acast and an exciting time for the industry,” Roach, who also spent time at Spark Foundry, said of his new role.

“There’s a huge strategic and creative podcasting play waiting to be unleashed in Australia. Acast is already leading this globally – I’m thrilled to now take the helm locally.”

Today, Nova announced Rachel Corbett will lead its podcast and digital output, off the back of the conclusion of the Acast partnership.
