Acast opens its doors to podcasts of all sizes with Acast Open

Podcast company Acast is opening up its hosting engine to podcasts of all sizes with the launch of Acast Open.

The platform will have three tiers of service, with one – Starter – free to use.

Podcast creators of all sizes will now be able to access Acast’s tech stack

Since its launch in 2014, Acast has grown to be the biggest independent podcast platform, and the new launch will allow anyone looking to create their own podcast, or take the next step in their podcasting journey, to access market-leading metrics and a smooth hosting experience.

Podcasters will have access to automated episode transcription and the Snipper audiogram tool via Acast Open, following the acquisition of technology company Pippa by Acast earlier in the year.

The Pippa offering has now been fully integrated into the Acast platform and the Pippa brand will no longer exist.

All Acast Open users, including former Pippa users who were automatically migrated to the new platform, will receive access to Acast’s tech stack, including the Pippa-built product suite.

Acast co-founder and CPTO, Johan Billgren, said the new offering was a no-brainer for new podcast creators.

“Acast is the only truly global, end-to-end podcast platform that can take creators from bedroom heroes to worldwide success stories. Now we’re putting the same tools we’ve built for the world’s biggest and best podcasts and publishers into the hands of every podcaster on the planet.”

With Acast Open we’re combining the simplest, smartest way to host and share your show with the might of the world’s biggest podcast company.”

The podcasts who join Acast Open will then be opened up to monetisation through the company if they have a large, sponsorable listenership. They’ll join the ranks of Acast’s shows, including My Dad Wrote a Porno, The Osher Gunsberg Podcast and The Lady Vanishes. Acast also monetises podcasts from businesses including BBC, the Guardian, The Economist, The Australian and Seven West Media.

Acast Open is available in English and French at launch, with more languages to follow.
