ACM strengthens real estate play poaching Jen Melocco from Domain

Australian Community Media (ACM) has announced several appointments and promotions, including Jen Melocco as national property news director.

Melocco joins ACM from Domain, where she previously worked as editor of the Domain Magazine with ACM chairman Antony Catalano. Catalano left the company in January 2018.

In May 2019, Catalano told Mumbrella he was not building up a rival to Domain, although in October last year, ACM announced a joint venture with, ending its relationship with Domain.

“Having worked with executive chairman Antony Catalano in his time at Domain, I was eager to play a part in the company he is leading,” Melocco said, “I’ve seen first-hand what he can achieve by combining a publishing business with a property portal and I am inspired by his vision for this business. My role will cover the ACM assets and and I look forward to building the role we play in the property media space.”

Rod Quinn, editorial director at ACM, said: “Jen brings a wealth of experience covering property around the country. As we look to build our property audiences and penetrate more markets Jen will provide the perfect balance of quality journalism and leadership to a rapidly expanding property team.”

Other appointments to ACM’s editorial team include Karen Barlow as chief political correspondent in April, joining The Canberra Times. Barlow has had a 25-year journalism career, including stints at the ABC and SBS.

Barlow said: “Canberra is my home and federal politics is my life. The Canberra Times has a deserved reputation for independent, determined and professional journalism that I vow to continue.”

On the commercial team, Anna Hosking has been promoted to commercial director – national sales, Nathan Soulsby has joined as sales director – NSW national sales, Sam Westaway has joined as national client solutions director, and Angela Haydon has been promoted to sales director – VIC national sales.

Sharon Fitter, ACM Chief Revenue Officer, said she was “excited” to be bringing in quality talent to ACM.

“It’s a testament to the business we are building that we can attract such high-calibre individuals,” she said, “The commercial division’s mission is to grow our customers’ business through insights-led, creative media solutions and I‘m confident with the changes and additions we’re announcing today we are well-positioned to deliver on this promise.”

In ACM’s marketing team, Sally Roscholler has also joined as trade marketing manager, reporting to ACM’s CMO Paul Tyrell.

Tyrell said: “It’s great to have someone of Sally’s experience join the business at this time when we plan to significantly increase the presence of ACM in the market. Sally’s role will touch all parts of the business including national sales, enterprise sales, agriculture and property.”
