ACP weekly titles tumble, while PacMags’ Famous continues to rise

The weekly magazine market saw a 3.5 per cent fall across the category, with a number of ACP Magazines titles including NW and Take 5 suffering significant falls.

The results follows a revolving door of editors at NW in recent times, with Corrine Barraclough reportedly reinstated to the role of executive editor and existing editor Lisa Sinclair moved down as her deputy.

NW fell almost 10 per cent to 128,133, while Take 5 fell 11.12 per cent to 231,114 in the three months to the end of the December 2009, according to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations figures.

Other ACP titles which saw drops were OK and TV Week. Its men’s weeklies, Zoo and Picture, also took a dive down 6.2 per cent and 5.13 per cent respectively.

But for Pacific Magazines’ Famous it continued to be good news with a 15.27 per cent rise to 85,572 in the three months to the end of the December 2009, according to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations figures.

PacMags’ New Idea saw little change, with its January relaunch and new brand campaign yet to be reflected in the circulation results.

ACP’s Grazia, which increased its cover price by $1 to $6 in November, saw a slight rise of 1.7 per cent to 66,102.

NW did not return Mumbrella’s calls earlier this week, with Sinclair still listed as the magazine’s editor on the ACP website at the time this article was published.
