Dr Mumbo is ever so slightly suspicious that the story in The Daily Telegraph today, which also appeared on Sunrise, about a digital camera that apparently drifted from Queensland to Bondi Beach is a marketing stunt. Either for Queensland tourism. Or for the camera maker.
For the camera to survive that journey is one thing. For the camera to produce pics – which have been posted on Facebook by tourism companies – of a “bright-eyed brunette” diving on the Great Barrier Reef, prancing about on a catamaran, feeding a wallaby and spotting crocodiles is the stuff tourism campaigns are made of.
I’m calling bullshit on this. Smacks of a stunt – which I reckon will cop flack for punking the consumer again.
Why publish all the photos of the girl in a bid ” to track her down”? Would there not be privacy issues with publicly releasing this lady’s personal content?
At what time today will it be announced that the mystery lady is “….part of the campaign” etc?
A wank too far!

“Some kind citizen sent it to us, hoping we could reunite it with its owner,” said Cairns-based Passions of Paradise spokesman Adam O’Malley.”
Just run us through how the camera got back from Bondi to Cairns?

Its funny how anyone who loses something is never a club foot, midget with a face for radio.

This sounds very similar to this story by Panasonic. So not even a stunt, copy cat?

It does’t say where she was from. If she was a tourist you would report where she was from. If it’s green and has leaves and it looks like a plant then it is a plant.

She lost the camera at Bondi. The camera was found at Bondi. Put the conspiracy theories away…

I hadn’t had coffee yet when I saw this on Sunrise, but I recall that the guy they were interviewing about this had a shirt on for a private tour company, and it wasn’t QLD tourism.
