Ad Standards Bureau waves away fart ad
A man lighting his flatulence has been given the all clear by the Ad Standards Bureau.
The TV ad for flavoured milk brand Chill featured a series of camera-phone ads, one of a man lying on his back at a party trying to light his own fart.
A complaint letter to the bureau read: “At approximately 12.45pm, Seven ran an ad depicting a young man lying on his back with a lit cigarette lighter held near his anus. He then proceeded to pass wind. The methane gas ignited like a mini flame thrower.”
The advertiser, Browne’s Foods, did not respond to the complaint.
The ASB decided that the ad did not depict material contrary to prevailing community standards on health and safety.
Really… this is what advertising has come to?

What a revolting ad..
What have we come to when that is acceptable?
Sure as youngster we may have done such things, but to see it on TV is pushing the envelope too far.
It’s just the coarsening of society….
And I am no prude, but it’s just not needed.
And the ASB is giving more ammunition to people who want the government to regulate advertising rather than bing self regulated…

A man lights a fart and humanity has come to an end?
I don’t think so. Thank you ASB for not pandering to the moral morons.
By the way, for the greenies in the house, human farts are mainly hydrogen, not methane.
