Adelaide radio ratings: Nova surges as ABC share drops post Ali Clarke

Nova 91.9 saw the biggest audience share jump in Adelaide’s second GfK metro radio ratings survey for the year, in both the breakfast slot and in overall share.

The breakfast team, Nova’s Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton (6am-9am) gained the most ground, up 3.5% to a 12.3% share from 8.8% last book, ahead of AM’s FIVEaa who finished in third place, with an 11.6% share (down 3.5% on the last survey). They drew in 209,000 cume – a record Breakfast cume for the station.

In People 10+ Nova increased it audience share by 2.6 percentage points, to 11.8% from 9.2%, passing both Cruise 1323 and last surveys leader ABC Adelaide. Nova saw a record cume of 374,000 listeners.

Survey two ran from 6 February to 26 February, and 27 February to 2 April, overlapping with the survey one ratings period.

In the breakfast slot, ABC Adelaide (10.8% overall, down 1.6 percentage points on last survey) still leads with a 15.8% share, but is losing ground – down 3 percentage points on the previous survey following the exit of host Ali Clarke in December last year.

In drive, Nova 91.9 was again the biggest mover, with hosts Tim Blackwell, Kate Ritchie and Joel Creasey securing a 14.2% audience share, a 1.4 percentage point increase on the last survey. Ricki-Lee Coulter acted as a fill-in co-host for two weeks in March while Ritchie was off with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, ABC Adelaide dropped to fourth spot finishing on a 10.2% share, down 0.5 percentage points, with 5JJJ losing the most ground this book (down 1.8%).

In fact, it was not a great survey for AM, with FIVEaa dipping – particularly in drive, down 1.8 percentage points to 6.4%, and ABC Adelaide continuing to fall overall, down 1.6 percentage point to 10.8%, and especially in the breakfast slot.
