ADMA announces a new Commercial Director and Karren Challoner-Miles and Content and Knowledge Director.

The announcement: 

ADMA is boosting its work in the commercial and content spheres with two highly regarded new hires this week.

Des Viranna is ADMA’s new Commercial Director and Karren Challoner-Miles has been appointed to the newly created role of Content and Knowledge Director.

“Des’ appointment is part of ADMA’s strategy to ramp up our services, education and events program, especially in the growing areas of content, creative, data and technology where he is extremely experienced. He will ensure our programs are a step ahead of what’s out there now and meeting the needs of marketers in the rapidly evolving marketing landscape,” said ADMA CEO Jodie Sangster.

“He will also ensure our events and programs for all levels of marketers — CMOs through to ADMA 30Below members — are delivering value,” she added.

Des joins ADMA after 15 years with SAS Australia and New Zealand where he was a Principal in the Business Analytics Advisory Practice. One of his major achievements was his strategy for the success of SAS’ Customer Intelligence business which led to SAS becoming the strategic partner for several major brands in Australia and New Zealand.

On the speaker’s circuit frequently, Des presents on customer analytics/marketing optimisation, event-based marketing, loyalty, developing an analytical mindset and how to effectively compete with data and analytics. He is a founding member of the ADMA Big Data Taskforce where he helped to write industry best practice guidelines around big data.

Karren Challoner-Miles brings a rich background in content marketing to ADMA. Most recently she worked with NEC Australia as National Marketing Manager, IT Solutions, and has consulted to Edge Custom and a range of brands on content strategy and lead generation. She has also held senior marketing and communications roles at NRS Media, Vodafone, Federal Publishing Company and The Courier-Mail.

Karren has extensive experience in strategic marketing techniques and optimising data and new technologies to improve engagement and revenue opportunities. She has introduced digital welcome campaigns, thought leadership content (audio visual, digital, DM and events), capability collateral and managed successful demand generation campaigns.

“By hiring Karren, we are investing in bringing our members and the broader marketing industry profound and valuable resources for thought leadership purposes as well as new tools and resources that will help marketers do their jobs better and grow the industry,” said Ms Sangster.

“ADMA produces quality content in the form of events, professional development courses, e-news, video, webinar, bulletins, blogs and social. Karen’s role will be to bring the best global content to the Australian marketplace,” she added.
