Adult Swim finds new home on Nine’s GO
The Nine Network has snared a block of programming from cult US comedy network Adult Swim which it plans to broadcast on its multichannel 9GO on Sundays.
The new syndication agreement will mark a free-to-air debut for many of the shows which are targeted a young adults, including Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Robot Chicken, Squidbillies and The Venture Bros.
Animated series Rick and Morty, produced by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, is set to launch on the weekly one-hour block later this year.
Nine’s director of acquisitions, Hamish Turner said: “Adult Swim is an iconic brand that continues to challenge its audience with a subversive and irreverent brand of comedy. We are proud to be bringing it to our audience in an Adult Swim late-night block on 9GO!, as well as making it available for catch-up and live streaming on 9Now.”
