AFL Brownlow Medal helps Seven win the night; The Block tops entertainment

Seven dominated Sunday night with an average audience share of 38.6% with the help of the 2022 AFL Brownlow Medal.

The award count attracted 1.09 million viewers nationally, and 841,000 metro viewers, while red carpet arrivals attracted 491,000 metro viewers across Seven and was placed first across key advertising demographics 16-39s, and 18-49s.

Despite attracting a large audience in capital cities, the event was unable to defeat Nine’s The Block which topped entertainment and the key advertising demos 25-54s, with a metro audience of 948,000.

As mentioned, Seven won the night, taking an overall network share of 38.6% over Nine’s 28.7%, while ABC had a share of 13.4%, and Ten took a 12.2% share.

Seven also beat Nine in the week ending 17 September with a network share of 31.6% over Nine’s 30.2%, while the ABC finished the week at 15.7%, followed by Ten at 15.7%.

Seven also won the primary channel share for the week, with a 23.2% share ahead of Nine’s 22.2%, and the top multi-channel for the week was 7mate on 3.6%.

Looking back at Sunday overnights, next in entertainment was The Amazing Race on Ten, which aired to an average metro audience of 291,000, followed by Savage River on ABC, which aired to an average of 283,000.

Seven News won overall TV viewing on Sunday night, followed by Nine News on Sunday with 857,000 metro viewers followed by ABC News with 547,000 metro viewers. 60 Minutes brought in 463,000.
