AFL players Marcus Bontempelli and Trent Cotchin narrowly avoid disasters in new AAMI spots

The Western Bulldog’s Marcus Bontempelli and Richmond captain Trent Cotchin narrowly escape game-day disasters through the assistance of AAMI.

The new campaign, ‘Could have been a clanger’ comes just ahead of tonight’s launch of the 2021 AFL season, and follows on from the 2019 campaign which showed that ‘clangers’ can happen on or off the field.

The ads also continue the AAMI Does brand platform which was launched last year.

The campaign, from Ogilvy, will appear across national TV spots, out of home, social, digital, radio and through the line communications.

“AAMI have a wide variety of products, innovations and market-leading services to help Australians recover from all types of clangers. It’s fantastic this year to have such top-tier AFL talent as our ambassadors to help launch our major partner sponsorship of the 2021 AFL season,” Mim Haysom, CMO and EGM of brand and marketing.

David Ponce de Leon, Ogilvy’s executive creative director, added: “In footy, having a top performing talent can be the difference between winning and losing. Much like having the right insurer can make all the difference when it comes to clangers at home or on the road.

“We were delighted to have the opportunity to work with such amazing AFL talent and show Australians that when it comes to clangers, ‘AAMI Does’ what other insurers don’t.”
