AFR’s Alex is blast from the past
Remember the G20 protests in London? The Australian Financial Review certainly does.
The event – at which a protester died after being pushed over by a policeman – saw the country’s financial institutions become a symbol of campaigners’ anger.
Today’s syndicated Alex cartoon on the back page of the AFR’s Market Wrap section features the bankers dressing down to hide their profession as they prepare to go to work on the day of the protest. It ran in the UK on the day. Three-and-a-half weeks later, the topicality is somewhat diminished.
