AFR’s Capital magazine rises out of ashes of CFO and Deal Book

The Australian Financial Review’s new finance magazine Capital hits the newsstands tomorrow.

The quarterly magazine will be inserted into the AFR and will also be available online at afr.com/capital.

The magazine replaces CFO magazine, which was rumoured to be closing in January, and the AFR’s website Deal Book, which now redirects to afr.com/capital.

A CFO section will run in the new magazine.

The title’s editor is James Eyes, who will be working with a team of seven former staff of CFO and Deal Book.

Capital has secured 14 full-page advertisers in a book of 60 pages in its first issue. The magazine will be published on 18 April, 20 June, 19 September and 5 December this year.

Brett Clegg, CEO of Financial Review Group, said: “Capital magazine and the new Capital section of afr.com provide an authoritative news and information source for those working in and around capital markets, including coverage of equity and debt issuance, regulatory changes and the latest mergers and acquisitions activity. This also includes CFO – the specialist information source for senior finance professionals – with a dedicated CFO section inside the magazine and daily CFO blog online that keeps the finance world up-to-date with daily news and analysis.”

The launch of Capital is part of broad revamp of the paper, which was announced in February.

Key changes so far have included the closure of the long-running daily Information section to make way for a weekly pull-out called Technology, and the shutting of technology title MIS Magazine.
