AIMIA elects new board members

AIMA has announced David McAllister, Richard Denver and Karson Stimson as the newly elected members of AIMIA’s national committee.

The announcement:

AIMIA National President Tim O’Neill has today announced newly elected members of AIMIA’s national committee. AIMIA is the digital industry association of Australia.
Following a close count, the elected members are David McAllister, from the Academy of Information Technology, Richard Denver from the Bureau of Meteorology, and Karson Stimson of WeAreDigital. Karson had served his three year term on the board and was re-elected.

David, Richard and Karson join existing members: Tim O’Neill (Reactive), Malcolm Alder (Orchestrate); Tamzin Taylor (Google); John Ford (The One Centre); Martin Lane (Mumbrella/Focal Attractions); and Will Berryman (Hostworks). The departing committee members are Annette Dockerty (Smart Services CRC) and Dale Cohen (Telstra Media).

AIMIA National Committee President and Joint MD of Reactive Tim O’Neill said, “This year the voting was close with a number of fantastic candidates applying for the open seats. We are very pleased to introduce David and Richard to the committee and also extremely happy to have Karson stay on. Adding David’s educational industry knowledge and Richard’s Government experience to the committee will be of great help with executing these areas of the AIMIA strategy. I look forward to working with them both.”

The first meeting of the new board took place in September. “We’d like to thank our departing members, Annette Dockerty and Dale Cohen, who contributed immensely to AIMIA’s projects and development efforts throughout their time on the board. We wish them all the best in the future,” said Tim.

As Australia steps up to the challenge of leading Asia in digital by 2020, AIMIA is doing its part with state chapters championing key initiatives for the digital industry. “We have a strong team and feel very positive about the future of our programs as each state committee moves forward with their initiatives,” said Tim.

AIMIA NSW has established several new industry groups, including a Video Industry Group, and an Innovation and Investment Group. In Victoria, the state chapter implemented an industry mentoring program that matched 20 young and emerging leaders with 20 of AIMIA’s industry leaders to share knowledge and experience to develop regional hubs of excellence. This along with other initiatives such as the popular V21 event contributed to annual membership growth of 34 per cent in Victoria.

AIMIA QLD is focused on providing collaborative, supportive and educational opportunities for its members. These are particularly evident in AIMIA Queensland’s open forum and panel discussions on a range of topics including the latest innovations from SxSW and IP Protection. AIMIA Queensland has also developed an ongoing relationship with Digital Brisbane, an initiative from the Brisbane Marketing Economic Development Board.

“AIMIA is fortunate to have the support of our State Chapters to undertake a wider range of initiatives, great projects are already underway with even more planned in the coming year” said Tim.
