Airtasker appoints former Facebook exec as CMO

Community marketplace Airtasker has appointed Noelle Kim as its new CMO, who joins the Australian company from Facebook, where she was head of marketing in the APAC region for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Mumbrella revealed in April that the brand was looking for a CMO post ASX listing.

In taking up the role, Kim will lead the company’s global marketing investment, bringing over two decades of experience across the Australian and US markets.

Kim will also oversee the expansion and management of Airtasker’s growth and marketing teams, working with co-founder and CEO Tim Fung to grow the brand in both US and UK markets. The company said that following a successful IPO in March, the appointment strengthens the  company’s leadership team, setting it up for further growth and expansion globally.

Prior to the four years at Facebook Kim held senior roles at Google, where she worked with Google Glass team lead by Sergey Brin before moving on to lead the global launch of Google Home, including the  the launch of a Super Bowl ad.

On her appointment, she said: “I’m thrilled to join Airtasker at such a pivotal moment for the business. As CMO, my role is to be the voice of our Taskers and Posters and to truly understand the value Airtasker brings to both sides of the marketplace, so we can connect with our customers with the right message at the right time, and inspire them to get more done.

Fung also said: “We’re super excited to have Noelle join the Airtasker team. As a truly seasoned marketer with a strong commercial mindset, and ability to design and execute impactful global campaigns, she will be a valuable addition to our executive leadership team as we move into the next phase of Airtasker’s growth”.

Finally, Kim added that she will bring both her business and marketing perspective to the role, “prioritising business value whilst embedding a culture of experimentation, innovation and creativity. In three-five years, regardless of what country you’re in, I want Airtasker to be a global household name and to be top of mind when you think of local services or need a problem solved.”
