Aleksandr and Sergei return with a musical number for Compare the Market’s Meerkat Mondays
Compare the Market’s Sergei and Aleksandr are celebrating the launch of the brand’s Meerkat Mondays promotion with the glitz and glamour of a musical number.
Meerkat Mondays was launched several weeks ago, offering Compare the Market’s customers memberships to the rewards program that lets them play for $20,000 of prizes awarded every Monday for six months.
The ad kicks off with meerkats Aleksandr and Sergei needing some Monday joy after a year of lockdown. The live performers dancing with Sergei and Aleksandr were shot in Lisbon due to COVID-19 restrictions.
General manager of brand, Michael Goodhew, said: “Meerkat Mondays is
a really fun and rewarding way to engage with our customers. Compare the Market has always been about helping Australians look for a better deal in a way that’s simples. Now with Meerkat Mondays it can be Simples and rewarding – it’s a win-win.”
The campaign was created by Compare the Market’s creative agency, VCCP.
“I’m usually more movie than musical, but dancing meerkats in sparkly suits is definitely a happy place,” said creative director Paul Sharp.
It is the first major creative work from Compare the Market in a year. Last year, the brand repurposed the animated footage of the meerkats to reflect how they were coping in lockdown.
Prior to that, the brand released a three-part saga, following Aleksandr and Sergei being chased into the woods by a possum catcher, hanging off the edge of a cliff, and finally being saved by Dame Edna Everage.
