Aleksandr the meerkat is running for PM thanks to Compare the Market
In the latest development from Compare the Market, Aleksandr the Orlov has thrown his hat in the ring for Prime ‘Meernister’.
He will be running on the platform of education, health insurance and concern for Australians’ personal budgets.
This latest move from Compare the Market has been inspired by comments across their social media that its meerkat figurehead Aleksandr would make a better Prime Minister than the current candidates for the upcoming May 18 election.
Aleksandr had this to say about his move for PM: “Not only am I very handsome, but I have too many fans to count on one paw! I know I can be Australia’s most fearless leader and am the best candidate Kat for job. If you vote for me, you won’t be disappoint; I mean, look at me!”
Compare the Market’s March campaign featured the meerkats taking a zen approach to healthcare, in preparation for the Federal governments health insurance simplification reforms that came in in April.
‘Simpleness’ has also been the brand’s platform since September 2018, in a push from CMO Jenny Williams.
At the time Williams told Mumbrella: “if you think about the brand, ‘Simplesness’ is the tagline that the meerkats have always used and the idea was born out of the idea that as a brand our goal is to provide or simplify choice so that people can feel more empowered about making that choice.”
The theme was also carried through to February’s campaign, which featured the savings Aleksandr’s dinner guests had made by using Compare the Market’s user friendly platform.
Hope Aleksandr won’t have a duel citizenship problem!

Aleksander running on a platform for health insurance. Geez thanks. Will he address his company peddling this dying industry?

Unless Aleksander has renounced his previous citizenship under Section 44, he’s ineligible. It annoys me when advertisers don’t do their homework properly on an idea.
