Alpha Digital’s co-founder Dr Al Jury returns as CEO

Brisbane-based agency Alpha Digital has named co-founder Dr Al Jury as its new CEO, after his founding partner, Matt Cooper, came back into the folder as managing director in 2022.

Dr Jury has held the position of chief HR officer at the University of Queensland for the past five years. However, he had executive roles previously with energy company, Equinor, as vice president in the UK, USA and Norway.

Alpha Digital’s previous CEO, Sam Wood, departed the role due to health reasons at the end of 2022.

On his appointment, Dr Jury said: “A lot has changed for both Alpha and I since Matt and I first founded the company back in 2011. The agency has grown to one of the most well-regarded in its field and has an amazingly talented team. I’m hoping to take my experience in scaling independent agencies along with digital transformation of large organisations, and apply those learnings to a business like Alpha with a healthy client roster.

Cooper added: “Al is able to see things others can’t. He is specialised in human-centred design and data analytics, and as a psychologist he is able to tap into his background to transform companies at every level.

“Not only will he be able to do that for Alpha, a role he’s way over-qualified for, but our clients will see the benefit immediately, I’m sure.

“After having someone like Sam who knew the business from the outset, we’re so lucky to get back one of the original people who helped set out the vision for the agency. And with Al we have someone who has found success digitally transforming businesses repeatedly across many sectors over the past three decades.”

Dr Jury starts his role on 6 February.
