Andrew Drougas parts ways with CHEP Network

CHEP Network’s chief operating officer has departed the business after nearly a decade, with Thomas Penn set to replace him as Melbourne’s managing director.

Announced via a LinkedIn post on Thursday, Drougas wrote: “So my time with the Clemenger Group has come to its end after fifteen and a half years.

“How blessed I have been to work in two of the greatest agencies in Clemenger BBDO and CHE Proximity over that period, at the peak at their creative powers.”

Drougas was CHEP’s chief operating officer for close to eight years, also working as Melbourne’s managing director.

“Thank you to the clients who entrusted me with the stewardship of their brands, its been a lot of fun and I take none of it for granted,” Drougas concluded.

The news comes after the agency hired Anna Cherry as its chief media officer, and Hamish Stewart as national executive creative director.

At the time of her appointment, Cherry said: “The opportunity to play a role in further strengthening the CHEP Media brand within an agency that works at the nexus of media, creative, data and technology is tremendously exciting.”

Lee Leggett, CEO at CHEP Network, said: “Andrew Drougas has made an incredible impact at Clemenger Group since 2008, both at Clemenger BBDO and CHEP Network. Over recent years, he has provided stability and leadership for which we are deeply grateful.

“All of us at CHEP Network and the broader group wish Andrew all the very best for the future.

“Fortunately, our leadership bench in Melbourne is deep, so I am pleased to have appointed Thomas Penn as managing director of our Melbourne team,” Leggett continued.

“Thomas has been a brilliant leader for us in his role as Melbourne general manager, so he will step into the role seamlessly. I am looking forward to working with Thomas to continue to grow our Melbourne offering.”
