Avis Budget Group begins search for regional marketing boss

Car rental giant Avis Budget Group is seeking a new head of marketing for Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, almost a year after the departure of former regional lead Vanessa Wolczak.

Mumbrella understands that the “Pacific” regional structure was realigned over a year ago, and the role has been vacant since Wolczak’s departure.

She subsequently joined funeral brand Invocare as head of marketing, before being appointed as chief marketing officer at SMS Healthcare in August, according to her Linkedin profile.

The realignment is understood to have coincided with Avis Budget Group ending its seven-year public relations partnership with Havas Red.

It is understood that the company’s regional PR has largely been managed in-house since the restructure, although media and creative duties remain with Havas Media Network and Havas Host.

Vanessa Wolczak left Avis Budget Group almost a year ago.

Now, in an apparent strategic reset, Avis Budget Group is recruiting for a seasoned leader to “own” its marketing strategy across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

According to a job advertisement, the role will play a “pivotal part” in shaping the global brand’s international marketing direction.

Both Wolczak and Avis Budget Group have been contacted for comment.
