Andrew Mudgway, Fairfax’s agency sales director, joins SBS as national sales manager

Andrew Mudgway – the former managing director of Initiative Melbourne and current national agency sales director at Fairfax Media – will join SBS on 22 October as national sales manager for television and digital.

Mudgway started out at George Patterson before becoming media group head at DDB Melbourne. He spent time at OMD in Paris, before returning to Australia as group business director, digital lead and planning head at Zenith Optimedia. He then spent time at Southern Cross Austereo and Frank Media, and became managing director for Melbourne at Initiative in 2010.

Mudgway has been at Fairfax for over three years

He joined Fairfax as Victorian agency sales director in June 2015, before climbing the ranks to national agency sales director in April last year.

His new role at SBS will see him report to the director of SBS Media, Adam Sadler, and oversee the national sales team. He will also be responsible for developing and managing SBS’ sales strategy and strengthening the organisation’s sales proposition and client relationships.

Sadler said Mudgway would play a key role in aligning commercial activities with the company’s broader strategic objectives.

“Andrew is highly respected in the industry, with experience leading high-performing teams at some of the biggest media organisations in Australia,” he said. “As SBS Media continues to explore new ways to connect with Australia’s diverse communities, Andrew will play a key role in aligning our commercial activities with SBS’ broader strategic objectives.”

Mudgway is looking forward to getting started.

“SBS is Australia’s most diverse media organisation with a truly national audience. I look forward to working with the SBS Media teams around the country to build on their incredible passion and commitment to SBS’ purpose.”

Fairfax has been approached for comment about Mudgway’s replacement.
