Angela McCann rejoins Mango as group business director for McDonald’s

Mango Communications, the PR arm of DDB Group Australia, has appointed Angela McCann to group business director, leading the McDonald’s account which returned to Mango in March 2018.

McCann joins the agency after spending four years as a freelance PR and communications consultant. She also spent three-and-a-half years as the PR manager at Ikea, and worked with Mango back in 2011.

Mango managing director Tabitha Fairbairn said: “Ange and I have worked together previously, and I’m thrilled she’s joined Mango. She is an exceptional operator with a huge amount of experience in leading highly effective, complex pieces of business and it’s wonderful to have someone of her calibre join the agency.”

McCann stated: “I spent time at Mango back in 2011 and I’m thrilled to be back. The culture and expertise within the Mango team is extremely strong, and I’m excited to be working with the team on some of the most impactful campaigns in this market.”

Also joining Mango is Sophie Robert, who comes on board as senior sponsorship manager. She joins Mango after spending a year as a sponsorship executive at Optus, and has previously worked at Apple as an events and experiential lead.

Fairbain stated: “Sophie is a wonderful, talented addition to our team. She brings with her excellent credentials in sports marketing, experiential and sponsorship.”

Alongside the two appointments, Ben Handberg has been promoted from group account director to head of consumer. Ben has spent two-and-a-half years at Mango and previously worked as the client services director at Stellar.

Fairbarn said of the promotion: “Ben’s ability to think creatively through a PR lens is exceptional. His reputation for helping drive some of the best work that is coming out of the group is testament to his performance and his promotion recognition of that.”
