Angus Ross named as Seven programming chief

Angus Ross has been confirmed as Seven’s director of programming with Brad Lyons appointed director of production.

The promotions follow former programming boss Tim Worner’s appointment of CEO of television for Seven West.  

The announcement:

13 February 2012 — Tim Worner, Chief Executive Officer of Seven Network Television, today confirmed the appointment of Brad Lyons and Angus Ross to senior production and programming roles as the network establishes the framework for the continued development of its portfolio of digital channels on its broadcast television platform.

Brad Lyons has been appointed Director of Production, responsible for the management of production of Seven’s expanding portfolio of Australian programmes. Angus Ross has been appointed Director of Programming, responsible for programming across Seven, 7TWO and 7mate. Mr Lyons and Mr Ross will report directly to Mr Worner.

Commenting, Mr Worner said: “Our business is evolving rapidly with our increasing commitment to Australian programming and our plans to further build the market presence of our three channels on our broadcast platform.

“We are brilliantly poised to start the ratings season and a big part of this is down to these guys and their respective teams. Angus has rapidly become a very skilled tactician. He is ready for this role and he deserves it. Driving that dominant schedule has been our ever growing slate of Australian content. Brad has ensured that we are doing more Australian programming than we have ever done. He is the right man to take this important part of our business to the next level.”

Brad Lyons

Brad started out in print journalism before joining Channel Seven Perth as a reporter. He then worked as producer on Beyond 2000 and an Executive Producer with Beyond Productions before joining Seven as Head of Infotainment in 1997. He then ran development and production. Brad is responsible for identifying and creating shows and is across all aspects of the creation of the shows while working closely with the programming team.

Angus Ross

Angus Ross has spent the past 12 years working for Seven Programming. In his current role he is responsible for acquiring programming for Seven’s suite of channels – 7, 7Two and 7Mate – reporting to Tim Worner. He also oversees the schedules for all channels and works closely with the Head of Production as part of the new programme development group. His various roles in the network have included Sydney Programme Manager, Daytime Programmer and Research Manager. Prior to joining Seven, Angus worked for several years as a consultant for television research group Audience Development Australia.
