Announcing the Mumbrella Social Media Academy
Mumbrella is to launch an advanced course in using social media for marketing and communications.
The Mumbrella Social Media Academy – which has been developed in collaboration with content agency The Conscience Organisation – will initially run in Sydney on Tuesday nights from February 5 next year. The nine week course will run at Mumbrella House in Chippendale.
The course will feature sessions focusing on the metrics behind social media; how to achieve the most on a small budget; managing Facebook pages; the basics of Twitter; risk management; how to measure return on investment; the secrets of content sharing; and lessons from the coalface.
Sessions will be presented by senior TCO staff. TCO founder Clive Burcham said: “We’re hoping to help the industry a little bit by sharing the experience that we’ve gained. Social media changes every other week. There’s definitely a skills gap in the sector and we hope this is our contribution to it.”
Further details of the Mumbrella Social Media Academy including how to book are available here. The entire nine-week course is priced at $999, or $149 for individual sessions. A maximum of 22 places are available on a first come, first served basis.
Meanwhile, Mumbrella Digital School, which is facilitated by Digital Chameleon and covers the basics of digital sales and marketing, will be running again on Monday night in Sydney again next year, with the next course beginning on Monday February 4. Just 12 places are remaining for Mumbrella Digital School. Places are $799 for the six-week course. Details are available via this link. Plans to bring Mumbrella Digital School to Melbourne will be announced shortly.
Please bring this to Melbourne if you can!
Will you make this available in melbourne?
I would love to participate but getting into the CBD at 5.30pm on a weekday just isn’t doable for me.
Maybe a compressed course with 3 of the lessons in one weekend day over 3 weekends or something similar is something to consider for the future.
Would be great if you have this course in Melbourne too!
A social media course and you’re not using digital delivery so those outside the Sydney CBD can participate? For real?
How about making the course online? It is for *digital* marketing after all!
Hi Beck,
It so happens that this initial course is designed for a classroom format with the students present.
As you probably know, we do use digital delivery for various pieces of training, including a number of lunchtime webinars. I’d be keen to offer this topic via remote learning if there is a demand for it.
However, the needs of somebody in a room are slightly different to somebody taking part in a webinar. The risk of trying to do both at once, is that it isn’t an ideal experience for either.
For real.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
Please bring to Melbourne!
Blogger/influencer engagement would be a good topic to include here too – The most important aspect of SM marketing is knowing the “tribe” you’re speaking to, how to identify/find them and engage them!
Just an idea.
Thanks for that info – it’s a shame that an advanced course has been designed in such a format. Hopefully from this offering you’ll get an indication of the demand for digital delivery and be able to supply something to meet it. I have my hand up to participate already!
PS: I like your last sentence. It works very well! 😀
A non facetious question for Clive or someone involved in the sessions.
Given that TCO has been quite public with its own metrics for social media success, having critiqued other agencies for creating metrics but then coming up with their own agency metrics, what will be taught to participants as the right metrics for social media?
Great to see a course like this popping up, it is needed, just concerned that the expertise needs to be balanced rather than the one world view.
Would love this to come to Melbourne. So many people would be interested in this.
Im with the chorus of calls for digital delivery or an intensive weekend format? Bring it around in that format and I will be there.
Very keen to participate in this course via remote learning, or if you happened to bring it to the Illawarra or Southern Highlands (NSW).
Another fantastic initiative on bridging the digital knowledge gap guys!
For those interstate or in remote locations who can’t attend a classroom setting – *selfless plug* – Digital Chameleon has a range of in-depth eLearning options covering all aspects of digital marketing from 101 to strategy. Email us today!
Please do this in Melbourne too
Great idea – agree with all others who would either like to attend online or in Melbourne…will stay tuned!
What’s parking like in the area?
A webinar format for this would be great. As I am sure you can appreciate many community and social media managers are no longer required to be based in CBD locations. So hosting this in a digital format would be excellent for people living in regional and non-metro locations.
Would be fantastic to see this offered in a digital format. Those attending I’m sure would be more than capable of handling a course in such a format.
Melbourne too please!
Julian Cole is running a great social media course on skillshare as we speak for those outside of the Emerald City
Hey @Peter Bray,
We are looking and hoping for an agreed balanced approached to measurement, reporting and metrics.
This is not something TCO can not do alone….
In fact, we will need to work with the industry and industry bodies to facilitate and standardise this.
Broadly speaking, we look at lots of reports from clients and agencies….some great, some missing important facts.
We don’t want to be critical so much as we want clients to embrace the sector….this will be better for everyone.
I hope this helps. please give me a buzz 0439030028 anytime to discuss
Clive
re MELBOURNE.
Perhaps we could look at doing an event across one day ?
We can call it…Social Media Learning Overload Academy
Clive
Hi Glenda,
Pretty good…
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
I’m with all the other people who are keen to see this come to Melbourne.
Good though
