Antony Catalano, Marina Go, Nic Hopkins and more complete line-up for Mumbrella Publish

The former CEO of Domain and current executive chairman of Australian Community Media, Antony Catalano, has been confirmed to speak at Mumbrella Publish.

Catalano will be joined on a panel discussing challenges and opportunities in regional news by Google Australia’s manager of global communications and News Lab lead, Nic Hopkins; Professor of journalism practice and co-director at Centre for Media Transition at UTS, Peter Fray; chair of the advisory board for the Centre For Media Transition at UTS, Trustee of The Walkley Foundation and company director, Marina Go; and director of content and audience at McPherson Media Group, Christine Anderson.

Mumbrella Publish will take place on September 19, 2019 at Hotel Swissôtel in Sydney.

The panel ‘Making money and sense in regional news: The challenges and opportunities ahead’ will address how regional editors and news consumers see the future, what the challenges and opportunities in regional news media are, how the role of the national broadcaster is changing, and what the ‘Cat’ is up to now after making headlines this year.

New research into the state of regional media will also be revealed during the session.

In addition, Ben May, director of The Code Company will also speak at Mumbrella Publish, exploring personalisation and subscription models. He will showcase the latest trends in subscription and paywall strategies and their implications, as well as discussing how smart digital publishers of all sizes can take advantage of technology.

Catalano, Hopkins, Go, Fray, Anderson and May complete the line-up of speakers at the conference and join other industry leaders including two international speakers; Microsoft News Labs’ Ben Rudolph, and Marie-Claire Edit’s Emily Ferguson. Nine’s Chris Janz, Bauer Media’s Jane Waterhouse, Pacific Magazines’ Gereurd Roberts, The Guardian Australia’s Dan Stinton, and Facebook’s Andrew Hunter are among other senior executives set to take the stage.
