May 25, 2011 –

The Account Planning Group is today calling for expressions of interest for committee positions.

APG membership is open to anyone with an interest in planning, with current members including ad agency planners of all levels, qualitative researchers, freelance strategy planners, media strategists, and clients.

The committee is looking for new people to join the committee to help grow the membership, provide new opportunities for planning talent and to raise the profile of strategic thinking in marketing communications. APG currently runs a program of Ideas Exchanges, training courses, two award programs, the Battle of Big Thinking and other activities.

“It’s as much about the ideas you can bring to the table as it is about the proactive approach you’ll take. We’re on the hunt for people who can help us make the APG more useful, entertaining and relevant,” said Sudeep Gohil, APG Chairman.

“It’s a great opportunity for members to get involved in shaping the future of this industry. If you think you have ideas, time and effort to contribute, we’d love to hear from you,” said Daniel Leesong, CEO of the Communications Council.

These are the requirements for nomination:

  • You’ll have a commitment and passion to deliver for the industry.
  • You’ll be from a planning/strategy background, in the broadest possible sense.
  • You’ll need to attend meetings once a month and follow up on projects between meetings.
  • You’re a current member of APG.

If you tick those boxes, the next steps are:

  • Send in your name, company and email address.
  • Provide 100 words or less, on why you would like to join the committee and what you think you bring. There are two positions to fill.

Deadlines:

  • To nominate yourself, please supply your info by no later than Wednesday 1 June to Genevieve@communicationscouncil.org.au
  • New committee members will be announced by Friday 3 June.
  • The first APG meeting will take place on Tuesday 7 June.

Nominations are only open to APG members, so if you’re keen to participate, sign up now.

The APG is chaired by Sudeep Gohil, Executive Planning Director and Partner at Droga5.
