Are Media appoints magazine veteran as director of sales

The country’s biggest print magazine company, Are Media, has appointed Anna Quinn as its new director of sales.

Quinn is no stranger to the world of glossy magazine, having spent close to a decade at ACP Magazines/Bauer Media. She also worked at Nine Entertainment for six years, rising to general manager of Nine Powered, the network’s marketing services team.

More recently, she spent just over a year as managing director of luxury communications and media agency Max Media Lab, and joined WPP Australia in late October, 2024, as managing director for Hogarth Australia.

At Are Media she will be tasked with leading advertising and affiliate sales, and driving the company’s creative and commercial strategy. She will report directly to CEO Jane Huxley, who praised Quinn’s “proven track record in driving business transformation, leading large high-performance sales teams, and delivering strong revenue results” in a release announcing the appointment.

Quinn adds she is “thrilled to be joining at such an exciting time”, adding: “I’m excited by the opportunity to leverage the power of these iconic brands to create meaningful connections between audiences and advertisers.”

Are Media publishes some of the most successful print titles in circulation, including TV Week, Better Homes and Gardens, Marie Claire, Women’s Weekly, Woman’s Day, Take 5, Girlfriend, and House and Garden.

According to the most recent Roy Morgan readership figures, issued in December, 2024, Are Media boasts six million print readers a month, and the country’s two most-read paid magazines: Better Homes and Gardens, with 1.8 million monthly readers, and The Australian Women’s Weekly, with 1.2 million.

The only other paid magazine in Australia to claim more than a million monthly readers in National Geographic.
