Are Media’s NSW head of sales returns to Shopfully
Drive-to-store marketing platform Shopfully has seen its former senior sales manager, Blake Wright, return to its fold as sales director for brand and media agencies.
Wright’s homecoming comes after a close to three-year stint at Are Media, which he joined in November 2022 as head of sales for NSW, before his remit was expanded from August 2024 to cover beauty and parenting.
Wright is credited with helping Are Media’s team adopt a digital-first model while leading the organisation’s digital sales transformation.
Prior to his time at Are Media, Wright was at Shopfully from 2021 to 2022, where he set up the platform’s “brand function in the market”.
Now, with his experience in several major verticals — kids and parenting, electronics, CPG, health and beauty — in addition to team building and innovation, Wright is tasked with playing a critical role in growing Shopfully’s presence within brand and agency channels and Australia’s retail sector.
“Bringing Blake back into the fold is a massive win for Shopfully,” Brendan Straw, Shopfully Australia’s country manager, said in a media release.

“His expertise across digital content, retail, performance media and his deep relationships across the agency and brand ecosystem are precisely what we need to rapidly scale our proven success here. We’re building a truly global, omnichannel force in retail media, and Blake is the perfect leader to spearhead our efforts.”
Wright’s return to the marketing platform comes in the wake of Shopfully merging with European reach manager Media Central and Canadian grocery savings app Flipp. The move resulted in the ” the world’s largest international player in drive-to-store marketing” with a reach covering more than 400 million shoppers in 27 international markets.
“I’m incredibly excited to return to Shopfully at such a pivotal moment for retail media in Australia,” Wright said in the same release.
“Shopfully has proven its strength here and abroad, and I’m looking forward to driving its next phase of growth by deepening our relationships with brands and agencies and continuing to innovate at the intersection of digital media, commerce, and drive-to-store.”
Wright’s resume also includes roles at student affinity network Unidays, Urban List and Pedestrian Group.
His departure from Are Media occurs one day after the media juggernaut announced that News Corp’s David Meagher is set to take the helm as editor of travel and food magazine, Gourmet Traveller.
